Tridents are impressing with level of improvement
The hard work is showing, for the Lake Holcombe-Ladysmith- Flambeau swim program, with improvement in
their two meets.
Sept. 6 vs. Superior First on the schedule, the Tridents were in Superior, for the annual Spartan Relay.
“The girls showed impressive improvement from their first meet, which is exciting, looking forward,” said senior Captain Megan DeWitt.
In the 100-yard freestyle relay, the four seniors – De-Witt, Willow Peterson, Liv Repka and Abigail Fye – came in with a close fourth place finish. Meanwhile, in the 3x100-meter breaststroke relay, junior Nayeli Schilling swam a personal best time.
“Overall, everyone swam great and the coaches were impressed with the improvement,” said DeWitt.
Sept. 11 vs. Antigo Almost a week later, the Tridents were on the road to Antigo, to compete in their final double dual of the season, facing the host team and Mosinee. There, the Tridents secured the win over Antigo, with a final score of 63-60, but ultimately fell short against Mosinee, in a score of 77-69.
A few highlights include the 200-yard medley relay (Schilling, Repka, DeWitt, Fye) who took second place, with a time of 2:18.24. In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Sidney Heath finished in second place, with a time of 2:27.76, a new personal best. Schilling then won the 200yard individual medley (2:46.13), another best, while Repka came in second in that event (3:03.20).
In the 50-yard freestyle, Fye finished in second place (28.28), while in the 400-yard freestyle, DeWitt captured first. The 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Schilling, Heath, Repka and Fye, placed first (2:00.10). Repka also notched first in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:25.45).
And in the final event of the night, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Schilling, Heath, DeWitt and Fye finished in first place.
“Overall the Tridents were excellent, proving that the hard work they’ve put in so far this season, is playing off,” said DeWitt.
