Bernard L. Danielson, 91, Cadott, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at Aspirus Hospital in Stanley.

Bernard was born Aug. 13, 1934, the son of William and Mabel Danielson.

He attended Cadott High School, graduating in 1951.

Bernard attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and studied farm short course.

Bernard also went to the Officers Academy, while in the Army, where he learned the “method of instruction.” He then became an instructor in the Army Reserve. After six years of service, he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt. E5.

He married Joyce (Johnson) in 1960. Together, they bought a farm, in 1966. From their registered herd, they sold many heifers for export to Spain, Mexico, Korea and Saudi Arabia. Brian joined him in the farming operation and they farmed together, until 2006. The herd was sold and he continued to cash crop farm.

Bernard served on the board of directors for 21st Century Genetics, for 22 years. He also served on the Chippewa County Holstein Association and the Chippewa County A.S.C.S. boards.

He was a faithful member of Big Drywood Lutheran Church, and was church council member and president of the congregational council, for several years.

Bernard was appointed to the Wisconsin Health System Agency, representing rural America in 1974, after working with the St. Joseph’s Hospital Sisters, organizing several meetings in multiple counties, to find the need and support for the new St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

He is survived by his sons – Brian (Angie), Cadott, Bruce (Sonja), Eau Claire, Kevin, Richfield, Minn., and Nathan (Nicole), Appleton; grandchildren – Dylan (Bri), Emily, Jerad (Morgan), Caysen, Collin, Brooke, Whitney Danielson, Keegan and Quinn McClurg, and Ethan Berkley; great-grandchildren – Hayes and Blake; siblings – Muriel Shervey, Wayne (Flo) and Mark; sisters-in-law – Marilyn Danielson and Molly Danielson; several nephews; nieces; and great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents – William and Mable; his wife – Joyce; sister – Eleanor; brothers – Allen, Harland and Clarence; brothers-in-law – Marvin Sheldahl, Albert Shervey and Duane Johnson; and sisters-inlaw – Deanna Danielson and Marion Johnson.

Services are at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at Big Drywood Lutheran Church in Cadott, with Vern Weeks officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Big Drywood Church Cemetery, with lunch and fellowship to follow, at the church.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, at the church. Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cadott is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Big Drywood Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. 174179
