Talent is there for Hornets, if they can find their rhythm

Cadott’s volleyball program schedule heated up, over the weekend, when they faced off with some different competition, in a tournament on their home court.

Sept. 13 vs. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser non-conference (W 2-0) First up on the day, was Chetek, who proved no match for the Hornets, falling to Cadott, in a 2-0 victory.

Sept. 13 vs. Mondovi non-conference (W 2-0) The Hornets then faced Mondovi, where again, they came up with the win.

Sept. 13 vs. Turtle Lake non-conference (L 2-0) Turtle Lake was the next foe, but Cadott’s luck began to wane and they dropped the bout, 2-0.

Sept. 13 vs. Unity non-conference (L 2-1) Finally, the Hornets went up against Unity, taking one out of three sets.

Leading on kills, was senior Haley Mathison, with 48, while also coming up with 6 digs, 6 aces and 3 blocks. Senior Karlee Davis notched an impressive 80 assists, along with 22 digs and 12 aces.

Following that, was sophomore Olivia Blanchette, with 30 digs and 3 aces, while sophomore Sydney Spaeth had 24 kills and 6 digs. Senior Lily Spaeth ended with 10 kills and 6 digs, and freshman Kollyns Zastrow had 7 kills and 11 digs.

“I’ve been making a lot of rotational changes, to find our best fit, but I believe in this team’s potential,” said coach Kaitee Kozial. “The talent is there, the work ethic is there, the drive to win is there. Now, it’s about finding our rhythm. Once we do, I know we can be a very competitive force.”
