Four straight conference titles, an undefeated league record, what more could Cornell’s Brooke Anderson want in her senior season? How about becoming East Lakeland Conference Player of the Year?

“Being player of the year feels great to me,” said Anderson. “It is nice to have my hard work and passion for volleyball recognized.”

Anderson was surprised to learn she won the award, but the effort she puts into her performance and attitude on the court, has helped maintain an energetic atmosphere for the team.

“My strengths throughout the season were knowing what my job was on the team and how to do it well,” said Anderson, adding that staying positive was key. “I always found it important to cheer on my teammates; even cheering about the little things can make a big difference.”

She credits her accomplishments she’s received throughout her high school career, to her coaches.

“I think a big reason I have so much love for volleyball, is because of the way I was coached,” she said. “My coaches have always encouraged me to try new things and push myself to improve.”

Although Anderson is also a force to be reckoned with on the softball field, volleyball has been very kind to Anderson, as she’s shared championships and memories with everyone on the team. The Player of the Year recognition is just icing on the cake.

“I am incredibly honored to have received Player of the Year, and I would like to thank all of my teammates and coaches for their support this season,” said Anderson.
