Despite the end, there’s much to look forward to

Having blown by Glenwood City in the first round of playoffs, the Cadott baseball program was on the road as the No. 7 seed in the Regional championship, June 4, facing off with No. 2 Marathon.
Things got off to a slow start for both teams, as they went scoreless through two innings. In the bottom of the third, that’s when things heated up for Marathon, as they had five runs cross the plate.
Scoring again dried up and the next two innings saw a zero on the board for either team. Cadott finally put a run on the board in the sixth inning, but the Raiders answered back with three runs.
The Hornets tried to make a comeback, but couldn’t do so and Marathon took the win, 8-1.
“This ends the season for Cadott varsity baseball, with a lot to be proud of and [I’m] excited for the future of Cadott varsity baseball,” said coach Brandon Geist.
Senior Warren Bowe was on the mound for the last time in his high school career, going three innings and giving up a hit, 5 runs and three walks, while striking out 9.
“He will be missed,” said Geist. “Thanks again, for hard work and patience, to help this team along. Good luck with your future at St. Thomas.”
Offensively, Bowe and sophomore Isaac Wellner each had a hit for the Hornets.
Although the season came to an end, there was marked success this season, with three more wins from last year, while Cadott finished in the top half of the conference and won their first playoff game in 12 years.
“A lot to build off and to get hungry for more,” said Geist.
