Four-time champs have a bright future ahead of them

It was the end of an extraordinary journey for the Cadott eighth-grade boys basketball team this past April, as they celebrated winning not one, but four season championships. Surrounded by family and friends, the team was honored for their historic 171-12 career record, spanning from fourth grade, through this school year.
“These boys worked extremely hard for five years,” said head coach Aaron Kowalczyk. “Their competitiveness, skill level and confidence, was never outmatched on the court.”
But what truly set the team apart, was their character, as they actively embrace sports, the outdoors and hard work, choosing those pursuits over the distractions of screentime. Shared experiences, whether through hunting and fishing, or working together on the court, fostered a resilience and passion, that fueled their success.
Once the team reached the playoffs, joining the top 26 teams in the state, they met their foe on the UW-Stevens Point campus, to determine who would be the best. That was decided, as they claimed the trophy and all the accolades that go with it.
“Rarely, was this group the tallest on the court, but their ability to click as a team, was something amazing to watch,” said Kowalczyk. “And they had a lot of fun along the way.”
