Wolfpack faces a challenge, down a wrestler for competition at Bruce

By Ginna Young

As the Cornell-Gilman Wolfpack Wrestling season begins to wind down, the team was off to Bruce for a quad, Jan. 27. Without sophomore Troy Duellman, who didn’t compete, because of injury, the Wolfpack didn’t see many matches that night.

Going up against Clear Lake, junior Braeden Person faced Domminick Leintz, a State-ranked grappler. Person lost the match, by fall, in 3:54.

Freshman Preston Fredrickson also dropped his match to Trevor Gilbertson, by fall in 3:58. Clear Lake took the team win over the Wolfpack, 54-0.

“Against Bruce, both won their matches,” said coach Greg Sonnentag.

Person pinned Keven Andersen in the first period, while Fredrickson won, via major decision, over Kyle Whitcome.  With numbers not on their side, the Wolfpack conceded the match to Bruce, 24-10.
