Cadott’s youth wrestling program had a record-setting 30 qualifiers, who competed March 22-24, at the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Youth Tournament. Cadott’s program values sportsmanship/character and effort over all else, as these lead to long-term success.

“One aspect of preparing our youth for this tournament, is to simply treat it as any other tournament, and emphasize that we value the process and effort, over the outcome,” said coach Dan Yeager. “When kids wrestle free, they have fun and perform better, and we are seeing this mindset lead to success.”

As a team, Cadott earned 28 pins, which was the ninth most out of 353 teams. They also accumulated 85 wins, the second-most wins of all school teams.

‘These are both new records for our program,” said Yeager.

The Hornets had 10 place winners, with two champions.

“This is quite a feat, with each bracket containing 24 of the best kids in the state, no divisions,” said Yeager.

The program had 14 youth coaches this year, finishing the year with 115 youth still attending practices. Yeager knows the success they had was from the dedication shown not just from the young athletes, but also from the coaches and parents.

Individual State place winners are champions – Brynley Hoff (75 pounds) and William Wellner (120); third place – Olivia Kelly (60) and Liberty Faber (172); fourth place – Kamren Schuebel (70) and Kellen Blanchette (135); fifth place – Oliver Sudbrink (145); and sixth place – Drew Erickson (72), Maximus Davis 140 and Jacob Phelps (160).

Non-placing State qualifiers, were Obadiah Yeager (54); Mavrik Felce (57); Quintin Kvapil (63); Jeremiah Roshell (66); Weston Felce (72); Cooper Kelly (75); Henry Hager (82); Otto Wahl (84); Aaron Much (87); Ryder Yeager (95); Jaymeson Ryan (110); Tucker Gindt (115); (Wyatt Anderson) 115; Wyatt Ryan (130); Aiydan Sonnentag (150); Hattie Yeager (55); Eden Kvapil (55); Evelynn Burgess (60); Sophia Slocum (65); and Tiana Salzgeber (95).

“Our motto for this year, was ‘Strength in Numbers’ and this continues to prove itself to be true,” said Yeager. “Cadott youth has momentum and we are excited to see what the future holds.”
