Cadott’s track squad is seeing success, as the year goes on, with two meets under their belts on the week.

April 25 Bloomer Meet

The Hornets were off to Bloomer, for a meet close to home, to begin their week.

Coming in first place, were two of the girls’ relay teams: the 4x400-meter in a time of 4:16.09 and the 4x800-meter (10:32.99).

Individually, sophomore Haley Mathison took first in the discus throw (110-08), third in the shot put (33-09) and seventh in the high jump (4-04). Placing third in the 3,200-meter run, was junior Lyla Weggen (14:14.89), while junior Mia Weggen was sixth in the 3,200 run (19:12.24).

Senior Emma Kowalczyk came in sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.22), with freshman Ali Blum in sixth in shot put (28-03.5), while junior Cortney Weggen finished seventh in the 1,600-meter run (6:12.45). Sophomore Dani Sikora ended in eighth place in the 800-meter run (3:00.96), as did sophomore Marley Mengel in the 300-meter hurdles (1:07.23) and freshman Tess York was 10th in the 300 hurdles (1:11.9).

For the boys, freshman Kaden Roen placed second in the 400-meter dash (52.81), fifth in the 200-meter dash (24.21) and sixth in the long jump (18-07). Senior Wyatt Engel was second in the 110-meter hurdles (17.63), with senior Eli Burich placing second in the 3,200 run (12:21.13).

Following that, was freshman Beau Steinke, who ended in third in the high jump (5-04) and sixth in the 1,600 run (5:01.82), while sophomore Saibyn Will was fifth in the 1,600 run (5:01.68). Junior Tucker Salzgeber came in seventh in the shot put event (36-01) and senior Sage Handrick was 10th in the triple jump (29-05).

April 27 UW-La Crosse Meet

A few days later, the team was off to UW-La Crosse, against multiple teams.

The girls again took top honors, with sophomore Iszy Sonnentag bringing home first place in the 400 dash (58.65), third in the 200 dash (27.14) and 100 hurdles (16.47), while junior Adrianna Goodman was sixth in the triple jump (33-00.25) and ninth in the long jump (1504.5).

In the discus and shot put, Mathison was seventh, with times of 110-08 and 33-01, respectively.

On the boys’ side, Steinke finished third in the 1,600 run (5:01.12), 11th in the high jump (5-06) and 3,200 run (11:01.61), as well 20th in the 800 run (2:15.13). Engel was 11th in 110 hurdles (19.37) and Will was 19th in the 800 run (2:14.89).

“Was a great opportunity for the team to experience the State track meet venue,” said coach Pat Rothbauer.
