Helen M. Wagar, Holcombe, died peacefully March 11, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Eau Claire.

Helen was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Iowa.

She was the postal clerk in Holcombe, for many years. She was very active with the Holcombe United Methodist Church, including singing in the choir.

She also had many activities in the town itself, including 31 years, as secretary for the Holcombe Senior Citizens Club and in Ladies Aid. Hobbies included her beloved gardening and flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, cooking and baking, and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter – Susan (Thomas) Thomka, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter-in-law – Jeanne Wagar, Roselle, Ill.; granddaughters – Rhoda Thomka (Jason), Las Vegas, Nev., Richelle (John) Williams, Berwyn, Ill., and Dawn (Kyle) Wagar-Rosenberger, Belvedere, Ill., grandson – Wayne (Melissa) Wagar, Parker, Ariz.; and great-grandchildren – Jack, Finn and Maddie Williams.

She is preceded in death by her parents – Henry and Nellie (Bonsal) Nelson, Holcombe; her late husband of 52 years – Merle Wagar, Holcombe; her sister and best friend – Dorothy (Ernie) Paulsen; her son – Richard (Dick) Wagar, Roselle, Ill.; and her grandson – David Wagar, Tucson, Ariz.

Private services and burial were held at the Cornell Cemetery.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the celebration of life at the Holcombe United Methodist Church, at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31.
