Raymond “Ray” L. Spaeth

Raymond “Ray” L. Spaeth entered the world Jan. 29, 1926, and departed to God’s embrace Monday, April 5, 2021.
Ray was born in the Township of Edson, to John and Grace (Faerber) Spaeth.
He grew up on the family farm in Boyd, along with his 11 siblings.
Ray married Lorraine Rothbauer Jan. 15, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomine. They resided in Chippewa Falls and Cadott. Ray and Lorraine were married 54 years, before her death in 2003.
He wore so many hats; husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, great-great-grandfather, hunter, fisherman, camper, farmer, builder and chauffeur to his wife, Lorraine, and all nine kids.
At age 62, Ray retired from Surge Milk Co. in Chippewa Falls, and John Rasmussen’s farm, milking cows before and after work. Ray’s weekend gig was being Lorraine’s road manager and biggest band supporter.
Well into his retirement, Ray went back to work with his son, Robert, for Greener Grass out of Eau Claire.
He is survived by his children – Robert Spaeth and Daniel Spaeth, both of Cadott; James (Collene) Spaeth, Mary Ann (Clifton) Turner and Deborah Martin, all of Chippewa Falls, Kenneth Spaeth, Hudson, Karen (Hunt) Russell, Prior Lake, Minn., Rene Spaeth, Eau Claire, and Kathleen (Mark) Stevens, Rock Falls. In his later years, his reason for living was having the opportunity to see and be with his 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-greatgrandchildren.
His heart overflowed with love for each and every one of them. As Ray aged, and time took its toll on his body and mind, his only wish was to be by his wife’s side again. His children know that he is with her, driving toward a new adventure, where Ray is the chauffeur and Lorraine is the backseat driver, telling him to slow down and stay between the lines.
He was proceeded in death by his wife; parents; 11 siblings; and son-in-law – Ken Martin, Chippewa Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 9, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott, with Father William Felix officiating. Following the service, Ray’s final resting place will be beside his wife, at the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Cadott.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
Social distancing and face coverings are required.
