Alice Marie Tieman was bom on Jan. 25,1937, in Butler, to Charles and Helen (Culp) Tieman. She was raised on the family farm south of Thorp, attended Eastside Butler School, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1955. Following graduation, she attended technical college. Alice married Ronald Abel on June 16,1956. Together, they built a life centered around family, farming, and faith, first in Willard and later near Loyal, where they raised their four children. After their divorce in 1980, Alice continued building a life of independence and purpose. She moved into Loyal and began a successful career in office administration, including positions at Village Plaza in Spencer and, ultimately, a 24-year career with American Family Insurance in Loyal.
In 1995, Alice married R.J. Kennedy. Although their time together was far too short before his passing in 1997, they shared a special relationship and many happy memories that remained close to Alice's heart throughout her life.
Alice believed strongly in serving her community. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and participating in numerous church activities. She was also deeply involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 175, the Loyal Food Pantry, blood drives, and the Loyal Area Historical Society.
Alice loved staying active and connecting with others. Whether curling in Marshfield, golfing in Neillsville, participating in classes and activities through the Loyal library, CSB travel opportunities, or enjoying bridge and canasta with friends, she found joy in both learning and friendship.
Whether on the farm, at the family cabin on Soo Lake, or at her home in Loyal, Alice took tremendous pride in creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Her flower gardens were admired by many and reflected the care, patience, and attention she brought to everything she did. She also had a passion for antiques and possessed a remarkable eye for discovering unique treasures. Nearly as much as finding them, she enjoyed sharing the stories behind them.
Above all, Alice was immensely proud of her family. She treasured time spent with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether through a phone call, a family gathering, or a simple visit, she enjoyed keeping up with the lives of those she loved and sharing updates from her own. Alice was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her homemade jams, rolls, cookies, and the many canned and frozen goods she lovingly shared with family and friends.

Kennedy; her parents, Charles and Helen Tieman; her daughter-in-law, Julie Abel; her stepchildren, Patrick Kennedy and Dennis Kennedy; an infant brother; her siblings, Shirley, Ronald, Gaylord 'Bud,' and Jerome Tieman; her step-granddaughters; and her great-granddaughter, Leeanne Abel.
