Marcella “Sally” Bauer Marcella “Sally” Bauer

Marcella J. “Sally” Bauer, age 84, our beloved mother of nine, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the family she cherished. She was born on March 13, 1942, in Marshfield, the daughter of Bernard and Katherine Davel.

Sally graduated from Loyal High School and devoted her early years to raising her large and loving family. Later, she worked for the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune until her retirement. Family was the center of her world, and after retiring she poured her heart into caring for her grandchildren. Known affectionately as the “Baby Whisperer,” she had a gentle touch and a gift for comforting little ones.

In her free time, Sally was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and found joy in birdwatching, especially when cardinals visited. The family will also miss her creations in the kitchen, including Wilberns meatballs, popcorn balls, pumpkin bars, whoopie pies, and the best pickles ever. She also loved camping, bowling, and listening to classic country music. Her warmth, humor, and steady presence made her a source of comfort to all who knew her.

Sally will be deeply missed by her children: Dennis Bauer, twins Jayne Bauer and Gene (Melanie) Bauer, Sharon (Steve) Seif, Rose (Rick) Oehrlein, Tom (Midge) Bauer, Sue (Jim) Hertel, Lori (Ed) Chandler, and Brenda (Dave) McDonald. She is further survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Marliss “Marcy” Peters; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandsons, Kyle Dick and Matthew Oleson; granddaughter, Samantha Seif; great-granddaughter, Eloise Seif; siblings: Jerome, Richard, Kenneth, Daniel, Thomas, Patrick, Timothy, Mary Ann, and Jacqueline; and her loving companion, Sylvester Bauer, who passed away in 2011.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Entombment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation was held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass.

Sally’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Karen Weinfurter for her many communion visits and the friendship she so lovingly shared.

“We love you, Mom. Rest in peace.” Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
