Charlotte Hoops
Charlotte Ann Castner Hoops, age 71, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. Born on March 13, 1955, to Marcella (Castner) Wehrman, Charlotte grew up in Loyal, where she graduated from Loyal High School in 1973.
Charlotte met Darrell Hoops and moved to Rockford, Ill. Together they shared three children, whom she loved with a depth and devotion that shaped every part of her life. Charlotte was a steady presence in her children’s school activities, always willing to volunteer and always cheering them on. Her interests were wide and heartfelt — she loved music, bingo, and bowling, and she found joy in gardening, camping, crafting, and crocheting. Her happiest moments were those spent with her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and delight.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Michelle (Billy) King, Joey (Ashley), and Christina (Bret) Fisher; her grandchildren: Kyrie (Derek) Ziesmer, Zayne Fisher, Maddux Fisher, Aliyah Mandujano, and Logan Fisher; granddaughter‑in‑law, Stephnie Hull; and great‑grandchildren: Barbara Hull, Amelia Hull, and Ellis Ziesmer. She is also survived by her siblings: Sue (John) Cattanach, Mary (Doug) Wahl, Steve (Kris) Wehrman, and Tom (Sharlene) Wehrman; brother‑in‑law, Frank Zingen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including Verna (Richard) Glover and Jerry Flynn.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeremy Hull, on Feb. 6, 2026; parents, Wilfred and Marcella Wehrman; her grandparents, John and Theresa Castner; and her siblings: June Wehrman, Janet Zingen, and Leonard Wehrman; brother-in-law, Timothy Strebe; and former spouse, Darrell Hoops.
Memorial visitation will be held on May 15, 2026, from 2-3 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St., Rockford, Ill., followed by a celebration of life at 3 p.m., officiated by funeral celebrant Jennifer Thompson. There will be a private family interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlotte’s name may be made to River Bluff Nursing Home in Rockford, Ill., for their memorial fund, to be used for activities.
