Kathleen (Kay) Landini
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Kathleen Agnes (Barnes) Landini, who left us peacefully, surrounded by love, on April 23, at Riverside Assisted Living in Neillsville.
To know Kathleen (Kay) was to know the meaning of devotion. Her family meant everything to her, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with us. She was the proud and deeply loving mother of Pat, Dion, Dominic, and Eric.
Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Landini; her parents, Reginald “Doc” Barnes and Dorothy (Volk) Barnes; her sisters and brother-in-laws, Marian (Irv) Hoesly, and Joan (Ed) O’Neill; and her son, Pat. She missed them dearly and often spoke of their lasting influence on her life.
Kay graduated from Greenwood High school in 1958. Greenwood was more than just her hometown — it was part of her identity. Kay took great pride in her community, cherishing its people, traditions, and values. Her love for Greenwood was unwavering, and she found countless ways to give back, whether through quiet acts of kindness or dedicated service.
Kay had a gift for making the ordinary feel extraordinary. She found joy in the rhythm of daily life and was especially fond of tradition. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, where the smell of her famous homemade bread brought comfort and warmth to all who entered. She had a knack for gathering people and making them feel cherished — especially around a well-set table.
She also found great peace and creativity in quilting, stitching love into every square. A woman of deep faith, Kay was a dedicated volunteer at her church, always ready to lend a hand, a prayer, or a listening ear.
Kay is survived by her sons: Dominic (Brenda), Dion (Jackie Derfus), and Eric (Julie); her grandchildren: Ryan (Jess) Landini, Jaime (Travis) Wolf, Kristen (Ryan) Aumann, Nikki Landini, Jordan Pomputis, Jordan Derfus, Kaden Landini, and Landen Landini; her great-grandchildren, Addysen, Payten, Wyatt, Preston, Kenley, Ryker, Kooper, Damion, Sawyer, Jeremiah, Connor, Grayson, Reed, and Riley, who were the light of her life; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and neighbors who loved her deeply.
Though our hearts are aching, we find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind — a legacy of love, faith, generosity, and family. Her memory will continue to inspire us, and her spirit will remain with us always.
Rest peacefully, Grandma Kay. You were loved and will truly be missed. A private family burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, in Greenwood, at a later date.
