Dale Thomas

Dale H. Thomas, 93, Greenwood, peacefully entered eternal life on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post 238. Visitation was held at the church, on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Dale Harvey Thomas was born on April 30, 1930, in Neillsville, to Melvin M. and Altah A. (nee Sischo) Thomas,

and was the last living of five children. Growing up on a

dairy farm in Greenwood, Dale loved to read and hunt. His eight years of schooling never slowed his accomplishments, which included a small bar and blacksmith shop. Dale then moved to Milwaukee and worked for American Motors, before starting his successful machine shop, which he ran until he retired in 1990. He met his lovely wife, Crystal E. Roix, at a 4-H meeting. They married on June 26, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Longwood. He and Criss enjoyed roller skating in their younger years and were avid card players and loved to dance.

Dale thoroughly enjoyed hunting, and his accomplishments were displayed in his basement museum which included bear, cougar, moose, caribou, mountain lion and Canada. He enjoyed helping with the Old Streets of Greenwood Museum. He was also a great accordion player and he enjoyed playing the harmonica.

He was a member of the Safari Club and the Greenwood Industrial Development. Dale is survived by his wife, Criss, of Germantown; his children: Dennis (Lori) Thomas of Campbellsport, Carmon (Mark) Mathy of Germantown, Timothy Thomas of Lebanon, Mo., Eric (Terri) Thomas of Hubertus and Cynthia (Steven) Behmke of Slinger. Dale is also survived by his eldest daughter, Cathy (Larry) Pupp of Houston Minn., along with 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jason Pupp; two sisters, Geneva Olson and Helen Severson; and two brothers, Frank and Ralph Thomas.
