Gladys Wollmer


1940-2020 Gladys M. Wollmer, 80, of Gilman, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29 at the Marshfield Medical Center. After 60 years of marriage, she rejoined her husband, Wayne at 5:07 p.m., the exact time he left us 25 days earlier. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Gladys was born on Nov. 11, 1940 in Ford Township to the late Clarence and Gladys (Shufelt) Miller. She married Wayne Wollmer April 23, 1960 in Hales Corners. Wayne and Gladys moved their family from Racine to Gilman in order to take over the Miller family farm. After retirement, Gladys continued to help her son on the family farm. She loved to tend to her many flower gardens and bake treats for her family. Gladys is survived by two sons, Randall (Linda) Wollmer of Altoona and Joel Wollmer of Gilman; two daughters, April Brode of Gleason and Jill (Mark) Chovan of Gilman; nine grandchildren, Daniel (Jillian), Carlos and Alex Wollmer, Codey Hatfield, Austin (Niki) and Derek Schilling, Bryce Chovan, Amy Brode and Jessica (Ryan) BrodeFrank; and five greatgrandchildren, Peter, Hattie and Hannah Wollmer and Dallas and Morgan Schilling. She also leaves behind nine loving siblings, Richard Miller of Lublin, Connie Morarend of Waseca, Minn., Clarence (Connie) Miller of Medford, Merlin Miller of Gilman, Frances (Sidney) Lefebvre of Elkhart, Ind., Ardella (Don) Walworth of Random Lake, Bonnie Perman of Winter Haven, Fla., John (Shirley) Miller of Owen and Arliss (Kim) Westerlund of Racine. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alicia Wollmer; sisters-in-law, Jean and Nancy Miller; and brother-in-law, Jerry Perman. 1941-2020 Charles J. Eisner, Sr., 79, of Rib Lake, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 at Rib Lake Health Services. Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will take place at a later date. Charles was born on Mar. 18, 1941 to John, Sr. and Marybelle (Dennee) Eisner in Park Falls. The family moved to Rib Lake in 1949. Charles attended Park Falls and Rib Lake schools. He married Rita M. Olson on April 28, 1962 in Chelsea. She preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2017. Charles worked his entire career at Hurd until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In his spare time Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR. Charles is survived by his children, Allan (Lisa) Eisner of Rib Lake, Jeff (Lisa) Eisner of Merrill, Brenda (Peter) Jones of Phillips, Connie (Jeff) Mauch of Ogema, and Linda (Paul) Newman of Rib Lake; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Joan) Eisner of Rib Lake, Roberta (Don) Engel of Fort Atkinson, William (Delores) Eisner of Rib Lake, David (Mary) Eisner of Ogema; brother-in-law, Le-Roy “Butch” (Doredda) Olson of Chelsea; and aunt, Jenny (Schnelle) Maszk of Merrill. Charles is further survived by many other family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by stepfather, Martin Radovich; son, Charles “Fritz” P. Eisner, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ann Yanko and Helen Ochodnicky; brothers, John Eisner, Jr., Lloyd Eisner, and Edward Eisner. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters-in-law. 1931-2020 June I. Long, 89, of Medford, passed away at home on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. Funeral Services for June will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rodger Prois officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Friday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. June was born on June 15, 1931 to Paul and Minnie (Scott) Steinbach in Stevens Point. She was a Medford High School graduate, where she met her high school sweetheart, Howard R. Long. She married Howard on June 13, 1953 at St. Paul’s Church in Medford. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1994. June was a teacher in the Medford area for 42 years, where she taught multiple generations. June’s final career journey was being a kindergarten teacher at Stetsonville Elementary when it was built until the time of her retirement. June has touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and students. In her spare time, June enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling with her friends. June is survived by her daughter, Delene Weiler of Medford; grandchildren, Michelle (Troy) Hoffman of Dorchester, Monica Weiler of Weston, Mindy Weiler of Medford, Michael (Tara) Weiler of Medford, and Miranda Weiler of Medford; great-granchildren, Peyton, Lexi, Aminah, Hailey, Kyley, Zoey, Avrey, Layla, Brooklyn, Raeden, Liselle, and Chevelle. nderson 1927-2020 Margaret M. Anderson, 93, passed away on Dec. 1, 2020 at her home in Medford surrounded by her family. There is no memorial service planned at this time. She was born to George and Mary (Belmore) LeBlanc on Nov. 12, 1927, in Crosby, Minn. Peggy was married to Robert D. Anderson on Jan. 3, 1948 in Crosby. Peggy attended Crosby-Ironton High School and was in the graduating class of 1946. She and Bob worked at the Crosby Ironton Courier, owned by Elmer Anderson, and then owned and operated weekly newspapers in Royalton, Minn., Menomonee Falls and Sauk City, and the Gulf Beach Journal in Florida. In 1975, they moved to Medford where Bob became publisher of The Star News through 1992. Peggy raised six boys and two girls and was a homemaker for many years, but also held full time jobs as a guard at the Badger Army Ammunition plant outside Sauk City, and production work at The Star News. She participated in community events with the paper, enjoyed needlework including knitting and crewel embroidery, was an avid reader and golfer into her 90’s and volunteered with the Medford elementary school reading program. During retirement she and Bob spent six winters in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and traveled throughout the country and Hawaii, as well as Moscow, Mexico, and Great Britain. Peggy is survived by her children, Tom (Marcy) of St. Louis, Mo., Paul (Lisa) of Muscoda, James (Cindy) of Sauk City, Susan Anderson (Chris Ryan) of Kealakekua, Hawaii, Carol (Dan) Brost of Medford, Jeff (Karla) of Silt, Colo., Greg (Dawn) of Lihue, Hawaii; and daughter-in-law, Sue Anderson of Madison; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, John of Virginia, Minn,, and George of Crosby; a sister-in-law, Betty Hanley of Ft Myers, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Timothy; and grandson, LCpl Nicholas Anderson; brothers, Earl, Basil, Jim, and Bob of Crosby; and sister, Bridgette of Palatine, Ill. 1929-2020 Faye A. Amo, 91, of Dorchester died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorchester with Rev. Shawn W. Andersen officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. The honor of pallbearers belongs to her nieces and nephews, Gary Schwoch, Klark Schwoch, Mark Kovatch, Melissa Lueders and Nick Forrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Kovatch, Eric Kovatch, Steve Schwoch, Jayson Galler and Jayna Bergdorf. Faye was born on Aug. 15, 1929 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Gilge) Kelnhofer. She graduated as valedictorian from Rib Lake High School in 1947. She then went on to earn a diploma from the nursing program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield and worked as a registered nurse for many years. She currently worked at The Homeplace of Dorchester cooking meals for the residents. She also volunteered her time for hospice and as a volunteer grandma at Dorchester and Colby Elementary School for more than 20 years. She was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Schwoch in Rib Lake. Together, they had three children. They later divorced. She was later united in marriage to James “Jim” Amo at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Sadly, Jim passed away January 31, 1998. Faye was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorchester. She also played the organ and sang in the choir at church. She was also a member of many other groups such as the Red Hats, the Showcase Players Theater Group, the Lions Club and many others. She was always on the move and always busy. She loved to work in the garden and cooking and baking in the kitchen. She loved to bake all kinds of Christmas cookies around the holidays. She was gifted with skillful hands to crochet scarves and baby hats for the newborn babies at the hospital. She was also an avid cat lover. Those that will lovingly cherish her memory are her children, Yvonne (Bruce) Pawlowicz and their daughters, Angela Forrett and her children, Landon, Teegan and Brynlee Forrett and daughter, Ashley Pawlowicz, all of Dorchester; Wenda Schwoch and her husband, Larry Schlais of Minneapolis, Minn. and Kurt (Kathy) Schwoch of Dorchester and her four step-children, Sherry Fox of Appleton, Marsha Johnson of Appleton, Jim Amo of Appleton and Jamie “BJ” Amo of Covington, Ga. She is further survived by her seven step-grandchildren, Aaron, Elliot, Austin, Elizabeth “Betsy”, Cambria, Cassy and McKenna; her six step great-grandchildren, Zack, Shea, Braydon, Emma, Aubrey and McKinleigh and her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Faye is preceded in death by both husbands, Ted Schwoch and Jim Amo; her parents, Edward and Ida Kelnhofer and two brothers in infancy, Kenneth George and George Edward. Reports of Area Deaths 1944-2020 Lloyd E. Westphal, Sr., age 76, of Rib Lake, WI, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at his home under the care of his family and Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Lloyd was born in Shawano, WI, on Jan. 12, 1944, to the late Robert and Madeline (Popelka) Westphal. He was married to JoAnn Martin on May 6, 1967; she survives. Lloyd was a graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee and was later drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving in the military, he returned to Milwaukee working at Inland Steel and Schwerman Trucking, Inc., before retiring from Advance Transportation Company after 30 years. Lloyd retired in 1997 and moved to Rib Lake in 2005. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling with his family. He also enjoyed fishing and boating and had a strong passion for 4-wheeling. Above all, Lloyd cherished time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Westphal, of Rib Lake; his son, Lloyd Westphal, Jr., of Rib Lake; his daughter, MaryJo (Todd) Monty, of Rib Lake; three brothers, Phillip Westphal, of Hayward, WI, Jerome Westphal, of Milwaukee, and Robert Westphal, of the state of Washington; three sisters, Jenny Beckette, of Reno, NV, Carol Olson, of Racine, WI, and Rosie Laabs, of Cudahy, WI. Lloyd is further survived by six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Madeline; his brother, David Westphal; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Laabs and Leroy Olson. 1940-2020 Lorna J. Larsen, 80, Medford, a former Town of Holway resident, died on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 4 days. Graveside services for Lorna were held on Monday, Nov. 30 at Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Holway with Kenneth Burisak officiating. Grandchildren served as pallbearers. Lorna was born on June 22, 1940 at Dorchester, the daughter of Clifford and Bernice (Bunke) Hoffmann. She attended Dorchester elementary and high schools. Her marriage took place on May 30, 1959 to Kenneth M. Larsen and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1997. After marriage, they farmed in the Town of Holway until selling the herd in 1988. She also worked at Post Company in Owen, cooked at area restaurants, drove school bus for Krug’s and transported the Amish. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, baking, cooking and other crafts. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Holway. Presently, she had been attending The Ole’ Country Church in the Town of Deer Creek. Surviving are her children, Wanda (Ken) Kallenbach of Medford, Marvin “John” Larsen of West Hollywood, Calif., Maurice (Lisa Leach) Larsen of Gilman and Melvin (Kelly) Larsen of Holway; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; siblings, Gary (Joy) Hoffmann of Strum, and Wilma Neuenfeldt of Dorchester.
