1952-2022

Douglas “Doug” J. Robertson, 69, of Medford, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will take place at a later date within the Medford community. Details to follow. Doug was born on May 24, 1952 to Jeannie (Douglas) and John B. Robertson in Wisconsin Rapids. Doug graduated from Sauk City High School and continued his education at UW-Platteville earning his teaching degree. He relocated to Medford, where he spent his entire career, of 34 years, pursuing and sharing his love for English and Drama as well as his passion for life with all whose lives he touched. He was very active in the local community theater, directing many high school and community productions. He was currently directing “The Cemetery Club” before his sudden and unexpected passing. Bill Dallas along with the cast and crew will continue with the production of the show because “the show must go on” and this is the way Doug would have wanted it. The play will run Feb. 10, 11, and 12 at the high school theater. Doug’s love for the theater also took him to New York on a regular basis to Broadway with others who shared the same passion. He also enjoyed talking with and spending time with his family and friends. Since Doug’s passing it has become obvious that Doug’s presence and impact on the lives of those he has touched will live on.

Doug is survived by his mother, Jeannie of Prairie du Sac; siblings, Linda (Joel) Cole of Hartland, Suzanne (Jay) Simon of Ariz., David (Madonna) Robertson of Lodi, and Richard Robertson of Reedsburg.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, John B. Robertson.
