Donna J. Machon

1938-2022

Donna Jean Machon passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, after a yearlong struggle with cancer. A celebration of life in honor of Donna and Gary will be held Jan. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Marilyn’s Fire Station in Medford. Donna was born Nov. 18, 1938, to Alexander and Evelyn (Mathews) Matheson in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Taft High School in Chicago where she met her husband of 62 years, Gary Machon. They moved to Medford in 1973.

Donna was a Packer fan and enjoyed dancing, crafting, reading, quilting and being with friends. She was on a Medford bowling league for years and at the time of her death was involved in a quilting group in Dorchester. Donna was an active volunteer at the Medford library. She liked gardening and growing vegetables, especially tomatoes. Donna loved music and you would often see and hear her singing in her kitchen while practicing line dancing moves. In her younger years, while living in Chicago, she was in a group called the 20th Century Juniors where they sang and performed in the Chicago area.

Donna loved joining groups and forming friendships wherever she was. She adored her family and took pleasure in attending her grandchildren’s concerts, sporting events, and any school or community activity they were involved in. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Donna will be missed by her four sons, Keven and Mary Machon of Toledo, OH; Brett Machon (Jennifer Krauss) of Medford; Jason and Brenda Machon of Medford; and Jack and Tina Machon of Stetsonville; Donna’s nine grandchildren, Max, Margaret, and Isaac Machon of OH, Hannah and Noah Machon of Medford, Brayden and Jaylin Machon of Medford, and Owen and Emmett Machon of Stetsonville; and by her sister, Lois Rhodes of TX.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away just three weeks prior to her.
