June E. Freiberg, 90, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 at Aspirus Medford Hospital. Funeral services for June will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

June was born on Mar. 14, 1931 to Hugo and Ethel (Schmidt) Passer in Palmyra. The family later moved to Whitewater, where she attended and graduated from Whitewater High School. She continued her education at UW-Whitewater, where she met her future husband, Foster “Fritz” Freiberg. She married Fritz on June 6, 1953. Together they moved to Westboro, before settling in Medford. She was a bookkeeping teacher at Rib Lake High School. She later was a secretary for Gene Krug, before becoming a secretary at Immanuel Lutheran School until retirement.

In her retirement, she enjoyed bowling, bus rides to the casino, gardening, fishing, camping, and spending many hours talking to her family and friends.

June is survived by her children, Cheryl (Dick) Price of Wausau, Pam (Jeff) Puls of Schiocton, Jeff (Trionne) Freiberg of Medford, and Laurie (Brian) Crowley of Wausau. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz; brother, Jerry Passer; nephew, Scott Passer, and her aunts and uncles.

June’s family would like to thank Country Gardens and Aspirus Medford Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion during June’s final days.
