Ronald J. Banks, 76, of Dorchester, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 at his home while under the care of Hope Hospice.

As per Ronald’s request, private services with military honors will be held. He was born Mar. 25, 1945 in Rib Lake to Clarence and Mary (Ehrenreich) Banks. Ronald served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 19, 1967 until his honorable discharge on Jan. 22, 1969, during Vietnam.

On Oct. 14, 1973, Ronald married Alice Gengler. They resided in Medford and Ronald worked for Weather Shield for 39 years until his retirement. He also worked as a home health caregiver. Following retirement, Ronald found himself wanting to work again, so he returned to Weather Shield and worked until 2021.

Once retired, he and Alice moved to Dorchester. He was a member of the Dorchester American Legion Post #517.

Ronald enjoyed fishing, being a “bar fly” in the local taverns, but especially liked hanging out at his nephew, Mike’s bar. He was also a talented woodworker and built tables and other furniture for local bars.

He is survived by his son, Christopher (Maria) Banks of Medford; sisters, Lila Halpin of Loyal, Nancy (Norm) Hahn of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Erica and Janel Banks; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Scheller; brothers-in-law, Phil Scheller and Denny Halpin; and his wife, Alice on Nov. 22, 2021.
