Superintendent’s Corner:

As the 2025-26 school year begins, I would like to once again thank the staff, students, and families of the Edgar School District for a smooth start to what I know will be a great year.
This isn’t the first time I’ve written about the importance of having a quality staff to serve our schools, and likely it won’t be my last. I feel extremely proud of our staff and the dedication they show our students. I’m also happy to report that this year we opened our doors with a teacher in every classroom. I’ve mentioned this before, but it is worth repeating: attracting and retaining staff in the highly competitive labor market is an accomplishment. The quality of our school hinges on the quality of our people. Please join me in celebrating the good work of our staff!
Another way we provide a quality school district is through a focus on strategic planning. A strategic plan ensures that our board, administrative team, staff, parents, and community all have input on shaping the priorities for our school district.
When we are all in alignment, we set priorities and make budget decisions in support of that strategic direction, helping us achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
The process of strategic planning will occur now through December/ January. It is being led by a third party, Nexus Solutions, which came to us highly recommended. We solicited volunteers to sit on the strategic planning team and received 23 responses. Along with nine district staff members, and four students who will also be on the team, we now have a 36-member group that began its work on Sept. 15. After they complete the process, the school board will review the strategic plan recommendations in December or January. Once approved, we will post it to the website and use it to focus our work going forward.
Schools are only as strong as the support they receive from their communities. We are hopeful for a successful year ahead. As always, I welcome you to attend our board of education meetings or to contact me with any questions.
