By Ginna Young

As the playoffs loom, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe golf team is gaining experience and seeing what they need to do before the post-season.

May 9 Birchwood

Heading to Birchwood, the Knights saw some low scores, with freshman Bryce DeJongh leading the way, carding a score of 47. He gained 16 conference points in the match, to place him in 11th overall in the league.

“His goal in the next two matches, is to climb into that 10th spot, if he can outscore a few players just ahead of him,” said coach Megan Bitney.

Sophomore Carson Stipek followed that with a 53, with junior Torren Parker right behind, with 54. Junior Jared Raatz came next, with a score of 77.

May 13 Flambeau

By the next match, Parker was leading the way, with a score of 44 (adding 24 conference points), while Stipek had 49 (14 conference points). Sophomore Logan Jaedike followed with a score of 54, while DeJongh had 56 and Raatz ended with a score of 61.

“We had a total of 9 pars for our team, with potential to close the gap on the top two teams, as we continue to grow this very young team,” said Bitney.
