The Lake Holcombe boys basketball program acted as host to Butternut, Dec. 27, in a non-conference bout, but the match proved not much of a contest. The Chieftains jumped out to a 22-4 lead early on, and went into halftime with a comfortable 56-18 lead.

With such a large deficit in their favor, this allowed the Chieftains to clear the bench in the second half and gave 11 different players some minutes on the varsity floor.

“Eight of those 11 players scored for the Chieftains,” said coach Joy Webster.

By the time the game was complete, Lake Holcombe almost hit the 100 mark, with a 91-38 victory.

Junior Ryley Craker led the team with a season high 25 points and also led the team with 6 steals, while junior Brian Strzok had another double-double, with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals on the night. Senior Trent Nitek came up with 9 points and 10 rebounds, and senior  Taye Yeager ended with 16 points and led the team in assists, with 3.

Chase Burgess and Owen Meddaugh, juniors, chipped in 8 and 6 points, respectively, while freshman Emmit Johnson and sophomore Brody Miller rounded out the scoring with 3 and 2 points.
