Cadott heading into final stages of regular season

With only a few volleyball games left in the season, Cadott is hitting it hard against their remaining opponents.

Oct. 3 vs. McDonell conference (L 3-0)

The Hornets were on the road to take on McDonell, in a West Cloverbelt Conference bout, giving it all they had on the Macks’ home court. While Cadott gave the crowd a good night of action, the Macks won in three sets, 25-10, 25-15 and 25-14.

Leading on the night for Cadott, was senior Emma Kowalczyk, with 6 kills, 7 digs and 2 blocks, while sophomore Haley Mathison had 6 kills and senior Makenna Harel ended with 14 digs. Sophomore Karlee Davis added 9 assists and 6 digs for the Hornets.

Oct. 5 vs. Regis conference (L 3-2)

Two nights later, Cadott played host to Regis, giving spectators a treat and stretching the match to five sets. The Hornets claimed the first set, 25-21, but watched the Ramblers take the next set, 25-18.

Cadott came storming back to win the third set, 25-20, but fell in the fourth set, 25-18. With the sets tied up at 2-2, the Hornets fought for the final set, but Regis held on to prevail, 16-14.

Kowalczyk came up with 10 kills for Cadott, along with 24 digs, 2 aces and 2 blocks. Mathison followed that up with 13 kills and 3 blocks, with Harel notching 39 digs, 2 aces and 5 assists, while Davis had 25 assists and 12 digs.

Oct. 7 vs. Osceola non-conference (L 2-0)

In the last weekend tournament of the year, Cadott traveled to Altoona, taking on Osceola as their first opponent. The Hornets dropped that match, 2-0.

Oct. 7 vs. St. Croix Falls non-conference (L 2-0)

Cadott then faced St. Croix Falls, but again, couldn’t pull out a win, with the sets going to the opposition, 2-0.

Oct. 7 vs. Black River Falls non-conference (W 4-0)

Up next, was Black River Falls, which was a good change of pace for Cadott, as they won the series, 4-0.

Oct. 7 vs. E.C. Immanuel non-conference (W 2-1)

Finally, E.C. Immanuel was the last match of the day for the Hornets, who made quick work of the Lancers, winning 2-1.

On the weekend, Kowalczyk finished with 16 kills, 20 digs and 4 blocks, followed by senior Kendall Webster, with 19 kills, 8 aces and 12 digs. Harel got 46 digs, 6 aces and 4 kills on the day, while Davis racked up 40 assists, 7 aces and 23 digs.
