With temperatures warming and the ground drying up, Cadott’s track program was able to see success in two meets, against multiple schools.

“Finally had a meet with some decent weather,” said coach Pat Rothbauer.

The away meet saw the boys team finish third out of 10 schools, while the girls ended in second place at the event.

“Funny what a little good weather can do for times and for the spirit,” said Rothbauer.

On the individual side of things for the girls, freshman Iszy Sonnentag was on fire once again, as she took top honors in the 100-meter hurdles (16.04); 300-meter hurdles (47.18); and long jump (17-11.5). Sonnentag broke her own school record in each of the hurdling events, as well as breaking the school record in the long jump.

Junior Jaycee Stephens also had a good day, placing second in the 100 hurdles (17.36) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (50.96), while senior Lucy Lindeman came in fourth in the discus throw (98-1) and sophomore Lyla Weggen was fourth in the 1,600-meter run (6:44.07).

Coming in fifth for the Hornets, were sophomore Cortney Weggen in the 1,600 run; junior Emma Kowalczyk in the triple jump (30-1.25); and Lindeman in the shot out (30-3).

For the boys, senior Peter Weir claimed first place in the 1,600 run (4:52.08), as well as the 800-meter run (2:03.94), along with fifth place in the high jump (5-6). Also placing first for Cadott, was junior Dylan Drehmel in the high jump (5-11), followed by sophomore Brock Nesvacil in the 100-meter dash (11.73), with junior Easton Goodman taking third in the long jump (19-3.5).

The relay teams also did well, with the girls earning first in the 4x400-meter, while the boys were second in that event.

“It was a great day for a large number of PRs, as well,” said Rothbauer.

To end the week, the Hornets hosted nine other schools, in the DeJung Invitational, where they again had good results, especially on the girls side, as the team placed second.

Sonnentag broke her own record set just two days before in the long jump (16-04), as well as notching first place in the 100 hurdles (16.29) and triple jump (34-08.25). She also took second in the 300 hurdles (48.05) and Stephens was second in the 100 hurdles (16.86).

Freshman Haley Mathison also placed second in the discus throw (104-11), with Stephens earning fifth in the 300 hurdles (50.27) and sophomore Adrianna Goodman coming in fifth in the triple jump (30-03).

On the boys side, Drehmel was first in the high jump (508), with junior Wyatt Engel taking third in the triple jump (36-05), while senior Nick Fasbender was third in the long jump (18-10). Following that up with fifth place, was senior Levi Lindsay in the 300 hurdles (48.36).
