Stepping out of the conference for the final regular season game, the Cadott girls basketball program hosted Columbus Catholic Feb. 17.

“It was our only game this week, and the girls were ready to play,” said coach Dave Hazuga.

And play they did, as the Hornets outscored Columbus, 24-13 in the first half. Columbus rallied somewhat in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Hornets and Cadott claimed the victory, 47-30.

“Our defense was good tonight,” said Hazuga.

Leading for the Hornets, was junior Elly Eiler, with 19 points. Following that up, was junior Lauryn Goettl, who added a three-pointer to the mix, ending with 12 points.

Junior Laken Ryan shot a pair of threes for 6 points, while sophomore Emma Kowalczyk and junior Morgan Moldrem each came away with a three-pointer. Sophomore Bradee Burish and junior Eva Enestvedt each chipped in with 2 points.

Cadott ends the season with an 18-6 overall record, sitting at 8-6 in the West Cloverbelt Conference, as the Hornets are set to host the first round of Regional action.

“I think tonight’s game gave us some help in preparing for next week,” said Hazuga.
