Meeting the health and wellness needs of her clients is at the core of what motivates Cyrstal Chenier owner of Whispering Pines Massage LLC.

Whispering Pines Massage is located in the Borealis Wellness Clinic building on State Street in downtown Medford. She has been providing massage therapy services since 2012 when she graduated and became a Licensed Massage Therapist and started working in early 2013.

Chenier explains that she had gone to school for nursing and while there decided it wasn’t a good fit for her and that she could help people more through massage therapy.

“It has been an amazing journey,” Chenier said. She started working in Colby before coming to Medford and through the years has grown her clientele to where she has people coming from as far away as Marshfield and Schofield for her services. In 2021 she started working with Dr. Sam Klinner and in 2024 went on her own.

Massage therapy is a highly personalized and individual therapists become known for their techniques and specialities. Chenier said that she is most known for her deep tissue and sports massage therapy work.

“I am the queen of deep pressure,” Chenier said of her technique.

She also provides Thai stretching, cupping therapy, Graston techniques and most recently, she became certified in dry needling.

In addition to her hands on massage work, Chenier has added an automatic massage chair for anyone to use at their leisure for a small fee. Chenier said the chair has proven popular with clients who may only have a short time window but who are in need of massage therapy.

“People come in on their lunch break and it is enough to rejuvenate them and allow them to destress on their lunchtime,” she said.

Chenier also has a Halotherapy Booth to provide salt therapy. The booth is beneficial for adults, children and babies. Halo therapy is natural, safe and can help alleviate asthma, bronchitis, COPD, eczema, psoriasis and stress. While sitting in the booth a person can also enjoy chromotherapy (color therapy), infrared sauna and Red Light Therapy.

Chenier noted that some people just come in and enjoy connecting their bluetooth to the speaker in the halobooth and enjoy the time by themselves breathing in healthy air.

She explained that chromotherapy is the process of restoring balance using different colors of light. She explained that benefits include reduction of Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms, pain relief, mood swings, reduced swelling and decreased inflammation. Red Light Therapy can help relieve pain restore joint health, improve skin health and aid in muscle recovery.

She explained that there are 12 different colored lights used in chromotherapy and that each has a different therapy use.

Chenier said an average session last from 60 minutes to two hours depending on the needs of the clients. She said others will opt for shorter visits with focus on head and shoulders or just feet and legs.

When not at work, Chenier spends time on her hobby farm with her goats and donkeys. She has recently started keeping bees and is looking forward to collecting their honey. She said she also enjoys gardening.

She explained that she has to alway keep her hands busy.
