Face-painting, balloon animals, and cotton candy - the fair must be in town! The Fair Before the Fair was held at the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Taylor County on Wednesday, July 16. The multi-purpose room was jampacked with vendors and attendees alike as the crowd played games and participated in fun activities all while receiving valuable resources.

“I’m having a ball,” said guest Karen Schubert while she had a colorful floral tattoo brushed onto her hand. The tattoo matched her freshly-painted fingernails, done by representatives from the Taylor County Health Department. “I’m seeing people I haven’t seen in forever.” Karen was adamant that she will return next year.

This is the second year for the event with ADRC director Jennifer Viergutz reporting that there were over 70 people in attendance. She stated that the clients who partake in day-services at Black River Industries (BRI) were in attendance this year, and she was pleased to see people having a great time. “Everyone is having so much fun,” Viergutz said.

In addition to the Health Department and the ADRC, there were booths by Taylor County Veteran’s Services, Taylor County Human Services, Taylor County Emergency Management, UW-Extension-Foodwise, Energy Assistance, BRI, Medical Reserve Corp., Suicide Prevention Group, and Stepping Stones.
