Dorothy Marlene (Marion) Markham
Dorothy Marlene (Marion) Markham, 87, Augusta, Township of Wilson, passed away, Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Homeplace, in Stanley, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
We would like to thank the Homeplace staff, with a special thanks to Carter Reed, for all his care and kindness. As well, as St. Croix Hospice, we would like to thank them for their kindness and especially Andrew, her RN, for all his care.
Dorothy was born Aug. 22, 1938, at the family home, in the Township of Edson, Chippewa County, to the late Raymond P. Sr., and Helen M. (Hera) Marion. She grew up there and attended the area schools, later moving to the Township of Wilson, graduating from Augusta High School.
She met and married the love of her life, Lloyd W. Markham, Sept. 6, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson.
Dorothy worked at Falls Bates Shop, in Chippewa Falls, leaving that position, to stay at home, to raise her two beautiful daughters. She later worked at Victory Memorial Hospital, in Stanley, and Cray Research, in Chippewa Falls.
One of Dorothy’s favorite hobbies, was making clothing for her daughters and other family members. She learned to crochet, a skill she was taught at a young age, by her Polish-speaking grandmother, Albertina (Jarocki-Hera) Kosakowski.
She crocheted afghans and doilies as gifts, to give to family and friends. She was a self-taught cake decorator, making beautiful cakes, for her family’s birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and baby showers. These were just a few of her amazing talents.
Dorothy was a caregiver, being with her husband, daily, throughout his stay at the Homeplace, in Stanley.
She volunteered at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wilson, for all the church celebrations and loved visiting family often.
Her greatest joy, was being with family and attending all of her grandkids’ school events.
She is survived by her daughters – Jeanine (Ron) Birch, Cadott, and Lynette (John) Zimmerman, Boyd; grandchildren – Alissa (Jake) Arneson, Ryan (Billie) Birch, CeAnn (Jeff) Drehmel and Chelsie (Miles) Bichanich; greatgrandchildren – Ruger, Jocelynn and Arabella Drehmel, Charlotte and Carter Bichanich, Adler and Lillyana Birch, Corbin Grenz and Paige Rubenzer; her brother – Raymond Jr., and Carol Marion, Alberta and Lester Drehmel, Pat and Jerome Fitzsimmons; sister-in-law – Delores Honadel; brother-in-law – Howard Markham; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Lloyd W. Markham; parents – Raymond P. Sr., and Helen Marion,; sister – Virginia Ketterhagen; father and mother-in-law – Walter S. and Violet V. Markham; brothers-in-law – Daniel, Wendell and Richard Markham; sisters-in-law – Alma Thompson and Donna Markham; and brother-in-law – Donald Thompson.
Visitation for Lloyd W. and Dorothy M. Markham was 9-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, at 11 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott, with Father William Felix officiating. Interment is in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Town of Wilson, Eau Claire County.
