Steve was born Nov. 19, 1959, to Richard and Ronna (Muldoon) Schlageter, in Eau Claire.

He grew up in Lake Hallie, and later moved to Cornell.

Steve was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, papa and friend to many. He touched the lives of countless individuals, with his music, wit, dedication and love of getting to know people. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He led a remarkable life, filled with many accomplishments. Steve was very involved with community events and the Cornell Jaycees, for many years.

Steve’s ultimate passion, was his music. He started his first band at the age of 12, and was a singer, guitar or bass player for several bands throughout his 40 plus years of playing music, including the bands Frisk, Jim Creek Boys, Night Rider, Phoenix and Intent, to name a few.

He was a man of several other occupations, including construction, bartending, maintenance at the Gilman Nursing Home and the Cornell Bowl, gate supervisor at Country/Rock Fest, and chef at Rock Lake Resort.

Besides his love for playing music, he enjoyed bowling, the Packers, his precious Star Trek, playing pinochle, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

Last year, he was diagnosed with tongue and ureter cancer. He approached it with such a positive attitude throughout the treatment process. He fought the disease with resilience and determination to overcome.

Steve was always very appreciative of all the many doctors, nurses and workers, at the Mayo Cancer Center in Eau Claire.
