Cecelia “Ceil” (Thon) Globensky
Cecelia “Ceil” (Thon) Globensky, formerly Cecelia Manning, 90, Cornell, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ceil lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her faith and the simple joys that brought people together.
She was married to Frank Manning, the love of her life, and they shared 35 wonderful years together, before his passing. Later, she married John Globensky and they enjoyed many happy years together, until John’s passing in 2016.
Known for her warm heart and welcoming home, Ceil especially loved Christmas. The holiday season brought her immense joy and she delighted in gathering her family to celebrate cherished traditions.
She was also an exceptional baker, whose homemade cookies became a favorite treat among family and friends. Many treasured memories were made around her kitchen table, where laughter, stories and love were always abundant.
Ceil embraced life with a joyful spirit and a wonderful sense of fun. For many years, she brought smiles to countless faces, as a clown in the Cornell parade, delighting children and adults alike. She also enjoyed bowling in a local league, spending time at Cornell Lake, with family and friends, and dining and catching up with friends, at Old Abe’s.
Above all else, Ceil loved her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, generosity and unconditional love, that will continue through the generations she helped shape.
Ceil’s loving spirit, treasured Christmas traditions, delicious homemade cookies and the countless memories she created with those she loved, will be cherished forever. Whether she was spreading joy in a parade, sharing laughs over a game of bowling or welcoming everyone around her table, she made every moment special.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared, the traditions she created and the example she set, will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her sons – Dan (Jackie) Manning and Richard (Kim) Manning; her grandchildren – Sean (Katie) Manning, Eric (Haley) Manning, Megan Manning, Nikki (Scott) Riley and Carrie (Gordie) O’Brien; her great-granddaughters – Laney, Aubree and Tatum; her sister – Marcy McCully; and numerous nieces; nephews; extended family members and dear friends.
