Melissa “Missy” Leigh (Kadlec) Dixon, 49, Holcombe, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Melissa was born March 3, 1975, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, the third daughter of the incredibly loving parents Ronald and Sandra (Klass) Kadlec, of Cornell.

She was raised and attended school in Cornell. When asked, Missy stated one of the favorite times in her life, was junior high school. It was at this stage in her life, that she was recognized as a promising musician.

Following high school, Missy attended UW-Eau Claire and enjoyed further instrumental music opportunities; because of her kind and caring nature, she was motivated to combine those traits with her love of music. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from UWEC.

On a lovely August day in 1996, she married the love of her life, Jon Dixon, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell. She and Jon first settled in Cornell, but later built their family home in Holcombe.

From this loving and dedicated marriage, they welcomed two children, who Missy so loved and cherished. Their daughter, Ellie Jo, and son, Carter Jon, were her proudest accomplishments.

She is survived by her devoted husband – Jon Dixon, Holcombe; her beloved children – Ellie Jo (Dixon) and Tyler Jones, Holcombe, and Carter Dixon, Madison; her three-month-old grandson – Dallas William Jones, Holcombe; parents – Ron and Sandy Kadlec, Cornell; her in-laws – John and Gloria Dixon, Holcombe; sisters and brothers-in-law – Shelley Kadlec and Michael Janssen, Eau Claire, and Jill and Willis Wolfe, Cornell; one niece – Annika Ekblad (Brendan Byrne), Minneapolis, Minn.; three nephews – Brandon Wolfe (Ashley Wolfe), New Auburn, Brady Wolfe (Hillery Wolfe) and Alex Ekblad, all of Eau Claire; many wonderful aunts; uncles; cousins; one great-niece – Aubree; four great-nephews – Braiden, Bennett and Bowen Wolfe, all of New Auburn, and Lincoln Wolfe, Eau Claire; very special family friends – Phuong Anh and Huy K Nguyen, Hanio, Vietnam; her beloved Yorkie companions Murray and Jackson; and Goldendoodle – Remy, who were always close by.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents – Anton and Leona Kadlec; and maternal grandparents – Bill and Elaine Klass, all of Cornell.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude, to the countless caring friends, neighbors, extended family and colleagues, who prayed and supported Missy, and her family, throughout this challenging journey.

The family would like to recognize and extend their sincerest thank you, to the excellent and compassionate staff members at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire, especially Dr. Daniel Burns and the Cancer Care Center team – Dr. Jason Beckerman, and the surgical teams and hospitalists, who made every effort to extend her life.

We are equally grateful for the highly skilled practitioners in the emergency room, anesthesia services, interventional radiology, inpatient medical/surgery units, palliative and pastoral care, and the hundreds of other generous care providers at Mayo, the University of Kentucky Advanced Cancer Center and the Wellness Hospital of Tijuana, for all of their time and talent that was contributed in efforts to extend our dear Missy’s life.
