Surrounded by family and an abundance of love, Eva Helen Mae (Engel) Shackleton Rykal, 44, passed away peacefully at her home in Cornell, Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Eva was one of those people who always had a smile on her face, welcomed you with open arms, gave the best hugs and always made you feel loved after spending time with her. Without any expectations,

Eva loved without any hesitation.

She was born Sept. 24, 1979, to Tammy Kaska (Merrill) and David Engel, in Coon Rapids, Minn.

Eva eloped and married the love of her life, Robin Rykal, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Feb. 1, 2023, with many of her family and friends present.

She loved spending her free time riding four-wheeler trails, with her honey, in the side-by-side, on the pontoon at the lake house, getting her nails done with her sisters, spending time with her nieces and nephews, and creating lots of memories with her grandbabies. She was always the one to ask you if you would want to take a picture with her.

Eva loved spending time with family and friends on the holidays, and again every Sunday, during football season, where Eva would watch, with her purple and gold clothing, to celebrate her favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings.

She is survived by her husband – Robin Rykal; parents – Tammy Kaska and David Engel (Lee Anne); two children – Cheyan Shackleton (Cody) and JC Shackleton; her four stepchildren – Bethany Grimm (Jim), Jasmine Davis, Lindsey Rykal (Jeon) and Kelsey Galetka (Trevor); her siblings – Doug Merrill, Rhonda Engel, David Engel (Tess), Angela Bocik, Mitchell Bocik, Tiffany Boehm (Jordan) and Amanda Bocik; adopted siblings – David Engel (Crystal) and Christina Engel; stepsiblings – Jimmie Kaska (Joanne) and Bobby Kaska; her grandchildren – Liam and Logan Peterson; stepgrandchildren – Dominic Grimm (Tori), Taylor Davis (Shawn), Dylan Davis, Bailey Witt, Sawyer Davis, Asher Witt, Evie Grimm, Elliot Grimm and Vivian Jeon; stepgreat-grandchild – Bowen Schneider; in-laws – Kathy (Darrel) Spaeth, Travis (Samantha) Rykal, Reno Rykal, Jude Kremer and Connie Kremer; and numerous aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.
