Emery Anthony Sedlacek, 95, Cadott, passed away at home, Monday, Jan. 29, under the care of Interim Hospice.

Emery was born at home in the Town of Arthur, Nov. 19, 1928, to Frank and Rose (Goodman) Sedlacek.

He married Eleanor Hrdlicka, Sept. 7, 1954. They spent 69 years together, raising their children on a dairy farm.

Earlier in his career, he worked for Midwest Breeders, followed by becoming a fieldman for Fall Dairy, until his retirement.

His people person skills assisted him in serving on the Chippewa County Board, from 1992-2012. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus.

Emery’s hobbies included bowling, golfing, trap shooting, playing fast pitch softball, as well as coaching a fast pitch team for Crescent, in his younger years, and he was instrumental in the construction of the Wagner Softball Field, at Riverview Park in Cadott.

After retirement, he enjoyed fishing at Tuverson’s Resort, on the Flambeau Flowage in Gordon. He enjoyed teaching all the grandchildren how to fish; he, himself, couldn’t fish much during those times, for he was busy fixing lines and putting on worms.

Emery spent many hours enjoying football, with his favorite teams the Packers and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

He is survived by his wife – Eleanor, Cadott; children – Kathleen (Joe Miller) Sedlacek, Cadott, Julie (Keith) Duley, Merrill, Mark (Susan) Sedlacek, Chippewa Falls, and Jean (Steve) Dressel, Cadott; grandchildren – Andrew, Joshua, Sarah, Christine, Scott, Mark Jr., Michael, Stephen, Katie and Emily; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters – Lorraine Wethern and Donna Hahn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters – Margaret, Rose Ann, Bernadine and Marcelline; and brothers – Raymond, Lawrence and Bernard.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Drywood, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 5, with a 7 p.m., vigil prayer service, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott.
