It is with great sadness, that the family of Walter Guthman Jr., announces his passing Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, after a long battle with cancer, at only 86 years young.

Walter lived in Holcombe, his entire life.

He married the love of his life, Karen McChesney, Nov. 8, 1958, and they enjoyed 65 years together.

Walter loved doing anything outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to garden.

He dedicated numerous years in the Army Reserves. Walter worked 27 years, as a foreman at the Jim Falls Dairy, before returning to farming full-time. He also did numerous jobs for the Town of Holcombe, which included building the Twin Oaks Golf Course.

He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife – Karen; his four children – Kim (Dale) Schroeder, Randy (Dee) Guthman, Kathy (Mike) Minot and Kelly (Larry) Forster; grandchildren – Nicolas Billiard (Kelsey), Lorin (Amy) Billiard, Remington Guthman, Evan Swanson (Ra-Vae), Briana Swanson (Alec), Hailey Minot and Courtney (Brett) Owens; seven great-grandchildren – Jason, Zac, Xavier, Abel, Archer, Bria and Ella; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Walter and Edith (Logan) Guthman; his sister – Lois Brown; his mother and father-in-law – Mac and Alice McChesney; and two brothers-in-law – David and Tom McChesney.

Walter will always hold a special place in our hearts, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with his immediate family members.
