Helen Irene Foiles, 97, formerly of Cadott, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at Lake Hallie Memory Care.

Helen was born March 11, 1926, to Margreta (Haas) and Andrew Andre, in the Town of Sigel, Cadott.

After her mother’s death Dec. 2, 1926, Helen was raised to adulthood by August and Emma Filtz.

She attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Cadott High School, with the Class of 1944.

Helen married Wallace “Wally” Foiles April 23, 1946, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2010.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima, a member of St. Bernadette’s circle and since the age of 12, she was a member of the St. Rose choir, and sang for countless weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the Cadott Historical Society.

Helen worked at National Presto Industries, Benson Optical, Fabri-Tek and for 19 years, at the Northern Center, until retirement.

She is survived by her children – Alan (Diane) Foiles, Chippewa Falls; Sheila (Jerome) Felce, Cadott; Donna (David) Arbs of Chippewa Falls; and twins Maureen (Edward) Hrdlicka, Jim Falls, and Michael (Sally) Foiles, Cadott; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law – Carol Nye, Cadott; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband – Wally Foiles, Sept. 19, 2010; two grandsons – Jason Felce and Curtis Hrdlicka; stepgrandchild – Rick Dingmann; brothers – Andrew and John Andre; sisters – Ann Larose, Jeanette Anderson, Betty Kalemba and Katherine Sheehan; son-in-law – Jupe Meinen; her two sets of parents – the Filtzs and Andres.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott, with Father William Felix officiating. Interment will be in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Town of Sigel, following the funeral mass.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, with a 7 p.m. vigil prayer service, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott. A visitation will also be Saturday morning, at the church, from 10 a.m., until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Helen’s family would like to thank the staff of Wissota Place, Lake Hallie Memory Care and St. Joseph’s Hospice, for the care they have provided our mother over the last six years.
