James Wenzel “JW” “Jim” Gindt, 76, Cadott, passed away at home, with family and sent to Heaven with love, Thursday, May 11, 2023.

Jim was born March 15, 1947, at Victory Hospital in Stanley, to Wenzel and Marion (Ryba) Gindt.

He was raised on the family farm in the Township of Edson.

Jim attended Stanley-Boyd Area Schools and graduated in 1965. He earned an associate’s degree in agriculture from Chippewa Valley Technical College.

He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

Jim married the love of his life, Susan Carey, in holy matrimony, Jan. 8, 1972, in Eau Claire. Together, they raised four children on the family farm.

In later years, Jim enjoyed a variety of jobs, including his love for farming, road construction and medicine delivery driver, to name a few. He also had a passion for mowing lawns and moving snow with his John Deere tractor.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years – Susan, Cadott; four children – Debra (Mike) Jacque, Thorp, Sara (Brian) Prescher, Houlton, Jason Gindt, Cadott, Jennifer (Kevin) Peterson, Cadott; nine grandchildren – Mitchell, Abby (Cody), Chloey, Paige, Ezra, Owen, Aidan, Caleigh and Ethan; one great-grandson – Cooper; twin sister – Judy, Conrath; brother – Duane (Jill) Gindt, Boyd, sisters-in-law – Claudia Gindt, Chippewa Falls, and Julie (Bill) Dewitz, Prescott; and brother-in-law – Dan (Kathy) Carey, Eau Claire; many nieces; nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Wenzel and Marion; grandparents – Peter and Clara Gindt, and Joseph and Mary Ryba; his brother – Roger; his sisters – Diane and Carol; and infant grandson.

Jim requested a celebration of life in his honor, at his home, Saturday, June 10, from 1-5 p.m. Private burial with military honors will be held at the Brooklawn Cemetery, in Cadott, at a future date.
