Bethel Mae Payne, 95, Mountain Home, Ariz., and formerly of Cornell, died May 8, 2022.

Bethel was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Fort Meyers, Fla. She and her parents relocated to Jim Falls, in 1931.

She married Lowell Payne Jan. 30, 1946. They had four children, who they raised in Cornell.

Bethel worked at the Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls. Lowell and Bethel owned the Silver Dollar Tavern in Jim Falls, for some years.

She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. Bethel would grow up to 1,500 tomato plants to sell. She enjoyed animals, mainly birds, and her dogs.

Bethel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games or just visiting.

She is survived by her daughter – Diane Hamilton, Sheldon; her sons – Mike (Anie) Payne, Mountain Home, Ariz., and Mark (Mary) Payne, Jim Falls; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Leonard and Francis Lang; her husband – Lowell; son –Tim; and granddaughters – Kristin and Jamie Ringer. A private burial service will be held at the Copp Cemetery, Jim Falls.
