Willa Kay Schick, 73, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Willa was born in Cornell, April 28, 1949.

She was a long-time resident of Cadott. After retirement, she moved to her cabin in the woods in Hawkins, with her husband of 46 years, Huck.

Willa graduated from Cornell High School in 1967. She had a long career with Cray Research, taking on several production and assembly positions in the manufacture of the Cray supercomputer.

She married Harold “Huck” Schick Feb. 28, 1976, and this year, they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Willa was a very generous and kind, mother and grandmother. She adored her five grandchildren and loved to have them stay at the cabin. She enjoyed traveling out west, with Huck and their dog, Penny, in their camper.

Willa loved gardening, canning, feeding and watching birds, sewing, crafts and fishing with Huck. While she cherished every holiday, Halloween and Christmas were her favorites, with many decorations inside and outside her home.

She is survived by her husband – Harold (Huck) Schick; son – Scott Smith (Vicki); and daughter – Tricia Guthrie; five grandchildren – Rachelle, Victoria, Olivia, Gabrielle and Liam; her brother – Robert Smith (Darlene); and sisters – Delores Nelson (Jack) and Elizabeth Gormley (Tim).

She was preceded in death by her father – Steven Smith; mother – Dorothy (Hall) Smith; brother – Steven (Buzz) Smith; sisters – Joyce Holub and Judy Viken; and her very close friend – Patricia (Pat) Riphenburg.

A memorial visitation will be held at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, Sunday, July 10, from 2-4 p.m., with words of remembrance spoken by family members at 3 p.m.

( John 11:25-26) Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me, will never, ever die.”
