Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Riegert


Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Riegert, Tilden, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at the age of 85.
Jerry was born April 17, 1936, in Stetsonville, the second of seven children born to Joseph and Irene (Schneider) Riegert.
He married the love of his life, Kathleen L. McDonald, July 9, 1960. Together, they had three children: Renee, Roxanne and Kelly.
Jerry was a devoted family man, friend and employee. After graduation from Medford High School, in 1954, he served in the Marine Corp, as a communication specialist in Japan. After discharge, he worked at the Medford Telephone Company.
Then, in 1967, he started a career as an artificial inseminator in the Cornell area, for Midwest Breeders/21st Century Genetics, until his retirement in 2001.
He sought happiness through experiences, in his younger years, often exclaiming, “This is really livin’!”, while boating, snowmobiling, fishing or traveling.
Jerry enjoyed dancing, playing card games and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his three daughters – Renee Wurzer, St. Louis, Mo., Roxanne (George) Komanec, Bloomer, and Kelly Thompson, Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren – Amanda, Amy (Mike), Bryan (Kathryn), Alexandra, Jerald (J.T.), Kennedy and Cody; eight great-grandchildren – Avery, Cannon, Jaxyn, Milaney, Abygail, Rexlynn, Vivienne and Fynleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Joseph and Irene Riegert; wife – Kathleen; granddaughter – Krystal; son-in-law – Leon Wurzer; and sister – Lois Wimmer.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 4, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Tilden. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., with Mass and luncheon to follow.
Interment for Gerald and Kathleen Riegert will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin in Altoona, is assisting the family.
