William A. Johnson


William A. Johnson, rural Cornell, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at Cornell Health Services.
William was born to Martin and Ruth Johnson, Aug. 4, 1931.
He married Eleanor Faye Stratton Sept. 13, 1958. To this union, four children were born.
William was a long-time farmer. Some of his favorite tasks were cutting hay, plowing and spring lambing. When discussing the hay crop of the year, he could be heard to say, “This is the best crop ever.”
He was a member of Big Drywood Lutheran Church.
William was active in the Farmers Union and served for many years, on the Farmers Union Marketing and Processing Board. He was a member of several sheep producer associations.
He is survived by his four children – Nora Jameson, Elsie, Neb., Brad (Peg) Johnson, Eau Claire, David (Lisa) Johnson, La Crosse, and Tim (Pam) Johnson, Cadott; his sister – Cynthia Cawelti, Carlsbad, Calif.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant siblings; his wife of 39 years; and his son-in-law – Rory Jameson.
Services for immediate family were held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Big Drywood Lutheran Church. A celebration of life service will be held later in the year.
