Paul D. Luce, 84, Wild Rose, passed away at home, Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022.

Paul was born Jan. 25, 1937. in Ruby, to Oscar and Myna (Johnson) Luce.

He grew up in Cornell, where he met his future bride, Rogene Webster. Paul wed his sweetheart July 27, 1957, and they lived in South Milwaukee, where he worked many years, as a maintenance man at Appleton Electric.

Paul and Rogene moved to Wild Rose, in 1969, and he worked at the Waupaca Foundry, from which he retired in 1997. Other jobs Paul had throughout his life, include school bus driver and bar owner/operator.

He enjoyed sports and competition, and he started the Waushara County men’s pool league. He enjoyed facilitating, participating in and winning billiards tournaments. Paul also sponsored many softball teams over the years, and managed the Wild Rose Little League.

Friends and family will remember Paul’s sense of humor, and his willingness to help others. He was always ready for a laugh, even at his own expense, and his smile could be infectious. Fond memories his grandchildren have, include camping at the land and fast motorcycle rides.

His mechanical abilities were always at the ready to help his granddaughter change her car’s oil or work on his classic Volkswagen, which he passed down to his grandson, Josh.

Paul loved the social life of tavern ownership and no matter which side of the bar he was on, he was always ready to meet a new friend.

He is survived by his wife – Rogene; sons – Scott (Sandy), Troy (Kandy) and Jay Luce, and Andy Stout; grandson – Joshua Luce; granddaughter – Rebecca Turner; great-grandson – Jesse Luce; and great-granddaughter – Rayna Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Oscar and Myna (Johnson) Luce; brothers – Harvey, Clyde, Elmer and Jerry Luce; sisters – Annie Lesik and Helen King; and daughterin- law – Dottie Luce. A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 15, at Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca, with the Rev. John Roe officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., until the time of the service.
