Michael T. Parkhurst

Michael T. Parkhurst, 37, Cornell, passed away, Oct. 2, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Eau Claire, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born Nov. 12, 1988, in Chippewa Falls, to Thomas and Jennifer “Jenni” (Jones) Parkhurst.

He graduated from Bloomer High School and went on to work at Johnson Lithograph, in Eau Claire.

Michael had a passion for competitive online gaming and even through his treatments, he truly enjoyed his job and worked as long as he possibly could. He also had a special love for cats, especially his long-time companion of 21 years, Dude.

He is survived by his parents – Thomas and Jenni Parkhurst; maternal grandmother – Barbara Kuehl; siblings – Richard (Jennifer) Jones and Kristine (Brian) Braden; bonus mom – Didget; nieces and nephews – Zachary, Sophia and Thomas Jones, Tyler, Hunter (Harley) and Emma Steinmetz, and SkyAnn and Gretta Braden, grandnieces – Lilliona and Luna Steinmetz; and other cats – Oreo, Muffin and Midnight.

He was preceded in death by his sister – Teresa Steinmetz; nephew – Dakota Steinmetz; paternal grandparents – Jesse and Louise Parkhurst; and maternal grandfathers – Sam Jones and Ronald Kuehl.

A private memorial service is at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff, at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, for all their care shown to Michael.

Olson Funeral Home, in Bloomer, is assisting the family with arrangements.
