Alice Kobiske
Alice Louise Kobiske, 93, of Loyal, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Aug. 29, 2026, at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield, while under the compassionate care of Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, with Pastor Katie Anderson officiating. Following the service, Alice will be laid to rest at Loyal City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Alice was born at home on June 14, 1933, in the town of Beaver, Clark County, the daughter of William and Martha (Lemke) Wehrman. She attended school in the town of Beaver through the eighth grade. Alice grew up with a strong work ethic and appreciation for the simple things in life — qualities that remained with her throughout her many years.
On May 3, 1952, Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerald Kobiske, in Loyal. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, hard work, and their community. Their marriage was a source of love and companionship throughout the years, and Alice treasured the life they shared together.
Alice worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield before she was married. Following her marriage to Gerald, the couple farmed together for many years. After they retired from farming, Gerald started Kobiske Metal & Hydraulics, where Alice proudly served as the bookkeeper. Through each chapter of her working life, Alice was known for her strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail, always taking pride in helping support her family and Gerald’s business.
Her faith was an important part of Alice’s life. She was a faithful and longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, where she generously gave her time and talents in service to her church and others. She was an active member of WELCA, serving as both president and secretary, and also served on the altar committee and the parish board of education.
Alice had a special dedication to the children of her church, teaching Sunday school for 16 years. Her years of teaching allowed her to share her faith and provide guidance and encouragement to generations of young people. She was involved with the Live and Learn Homemakers Club and numerous community and charitable activities. Alice served as chairperson for the Town of Loyal and volunteered with the Heart Fund Blood Mobile, giving her time to help others in her community.
Outside of her work and church activities, Alice found happiness in the everyday pleasures of life. She enjoyed spending time tending to her flower garden and vegetable garden, taking pride in the beauty she created around her home. She also enjoyed cutting the lawn and staying busy with her yardwork. Alice loved cats and took great pleasure in their companionship.
Those who knew Alice will remember her devotion to her family, her strong faith, her willingness to serve others, and her enjoyment of staying busy. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and community, leaving behind many memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Alice will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Gerald Kobiske of Loyal; her daughter, Connie Porter; and her daughter-in-law, Joanne Kobiske. She was a proud grandma to Rob (Bethany) Kobiske, Ann (Brandon) Cummings, Derek (Sam) Porter, and Dylan (fiancée, Aleah Akkerman) Porter; and proud great-grandma to Ellie and Wes Kobiske, Norah Cummings, Beckett and Kinsley Porter; and stepgreat-grandchildren Elaina, Isabella, and Brielle Cummings. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Kobiske; son-in-law, Brad Porter; parents, William and Martha Wehrman; and siblings, Yvonne, Don, Herb, Ray, Agnes, Elaine, Allen, Wilfred, Dale, Victor, and Harvey.
Alice’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Stoney River Memory Care and Heartland Hospice — especially her nurse, Julie, and her hospice volunteer, Dani, for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Alice during her final days.
