She was raised and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1967. Kris then attended UW-Stout to study clinical nutrition. Just prior to her senior year of college, Kris was united in marriage to Dean C. Schweiger on Aug. 15, 1970, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. She then went to work for the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield and eventually moved and settled in Loyal. Kris completed her master’s degree in diabetes education at UW-Stevens Point while working at Marshfield Clinic. She retired in 2010 after 37 years with the clinic. In retirement, she spent much of her time watching her grandchildren, and attending the Northwest Lutheran Synod Lay School of Ministry in Chippewa Falls for 10 years.

Kris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, where she taught Sunday school and catechism, and was the TLCW president for many years. She was also a charter member of the Loyal Jaycettes.

In her spare time, she had many interests, but especially loved studying the Bible, reading, her cats, listening to audio books, crocheting, sewing, and gardening.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Dean, of Loyal; her children: Kim (David) Loos, Jeffrey (Carmen) Schweiger, and Matthew Schweiger, all of Loyal; three grandchildren: Magnus, Oliver, and Jaxon Schweiger; one brother, Duane Hebert of Loyal; one sister-in-law, Lillian Hebert of Eau Claire; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
