Lois Marie Klemetson was born Jan. 15, 1940, in the Curtiss area to LaVerne and Leona (Kowalski) Klemetson.
She was the first born of three siblings, graduating from from Dorchester High School in Dorchester. Lois was united in marriage to John J. Suda on June 11, 1958, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Greenwood for more than 20 years. Having grown up on a farm, she was no stranger to equipment, livestock, or the hard work that came along with it. She was the mother of five children and one foster child: Wendy, Wanda, Dawn, Wayne, Rene, and Elaine.
In 1977, the passion of farming came to an end, so they moved their family west to Wyoming in search of a better life. They purchased the Stagecoach Motor Inn, a 28-unit motel nestled in downtown Dubois, Wyo. Lois felt right at home in the motel and found great satisfaction caring for the guests and making many new friends along the way. They grew the business from 28 units to 47 over the next 20 years. Lois and John retired in 1993 and spent many winters snowbirding in Arizona. Lois loved the camaraderie of friends and get-togethers, especially those that involved the backcountry of Arizona exploring the desert on their ATV.
Lois was especially fond of traveling — having visited all 50 states, polka dancing, bird watching, and gardening. She took great pride in her conservative nature and was proud of all her accomplishments, no matter how much hard work was involved. In 2007, Lois and John moved back to their hometown of Greenwood to enjoy their cabin on the Black River, hunt for whitetail deer on their property, and enjoy friends of long ago.
Lois is survived by her children: Wendy (Jose) Herrera of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Wanda (Chris) Wonson of West Newfield, Maine, Dawn Anderson of Dubois, Wyo., Wayne (Kim) Suda of Dubois, Wyo., Rene (Debbie) Suda of Dubois, Wyo., and foster daughter, Elaine (Gerry) Bohn of Milwaukee; one sister, Annie (Larry) Johnson of Curtiss; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on Jan. 19, 2018; and her brother, Mark Klemetson.
