Eleanor Clintsman

Eleanor Louise Tyrrell was born on Oct. 15, 1933, in Sheldon to Vernon C. and Grace A. (Jewett) Tyrrell. She grew up on a farm near Menomonie, graduating from Menomonie High School in 1951. After high school, Eleanor moved to St. Paul, Minn., where she worked at Woolworth's Five & Dime Store and Mando Photo. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Clintsman on Nov. 15, 1952, at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. They resided in Greenwood where they raised their five children. Eleanor began driving school bus for the Greenwood School District in 1970, which she did until 1987. She then drove truck with her husband, for G.H. Miller, until retiring in 1999. Her husband, Bob, passed away on Jan. 18, 2014, and she continued living in Greenwood until moving to North Sho re Healthcare in August 2025.
Eleanor was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Churc h in Greenwood, and a member of Loyal United Methodist Church, a member of Royal Neighbors, and was a Boy Scout leader and 4-H leader for the Greenwood Satelli tes.
She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, gardening, crocheting, reading, sewing, cooking, and traveling - she went to Germany, and cruised to Alaska and the Bahamas.
Eleanor will be dearly missed by her children: Roxane (Mike) Purgett of Greenwood, Dennis Clintsman of Mt. Shasta, Calif., Diane (James) Zimmerman of Janesville, and Nancy (Jared) Ashland of Appleton; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Veloris Peabody o f Eau Claire and Sheryl (James) Baker of Sussex; one brother, Alan (June) Tyrrell of Menomonie; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Sr.; one son, Robert Jr.; one grandson, David Rakestraw; and two sisters: Maxine Tyrrell and Lois Schultz.
Eleanor L. Clintsman, 92, Greenwood, passed away at North Shore Healthcare in Marshfield, on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Kathy Jury will officiate, with burial to follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
