Zada Marie Cain was born on Oct. 28, 1930, in March Rapids, rural Stratford, to Ulysses C. and Elsie E. (Langfeldt) Cain, but lived most of her life near Loyal. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1948 and met her future husband, Lester, after he returned from his World War II service and started work at the Pine Grove Cheese Factory. They were married at her parents’ home in Beaver Township on Oct. 30, 1948. In 1952, Lester and Zada purchased their dairy farm, where they shared farm work and raised their three children. Zada continued living on the farm after Lester passed away on Oct. 17, 2001.
She volunteered as a Beaver Center 4-H leader and was a member of the Beaver Center Homemakers. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal and the church’s quilting group. Zada enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, sewing for her children and grandchildren, and doing needlework. Although she denied it, she was an excellent cook. Zada lovingly cared for numerous pets throughout her lifetime, most recently her special cat, Arnie.
Zada is survived by her brother, Wayne Cain, of East Wenatchee, Wash.; three children: David (Karen) Bloom of Loyal, Deborah Bloom of Wheaton, Ill., and Cindy _________________________________________________________________________________ (Karen), Daniel (Shannon), and Andrea (Craig); six great-grandchildren: Kolton, Lane, _____________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________ and one nephew.
