Thomas J. Reynolds, age 95, of Dorchester, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester. The Rev. Shawn Andersen will preside. Inurnment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester is entrusted with the arrangements. Tom was born on February 27, 1928, the son of Fred and Mary (Stelzel) Reynolds in Marshfield. After attending schools in Dorchester and Milwaukee, he worked for his father at the Bruckerville Cheese Factory, in the Town of Holton. Tom received his cheesemakers license in1949 and soon after, his cheese grader license, while at Richfield Unity Dairy. Because of his varied interests, his education continued throughout his life. On June 30, 1951, Thomas was united in marriage to Elaine Sommer at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2018. Tom joined Kraft Foods in 1955 as a cheese quality specialist working with cheese plants in five mid-western states. He received the J.L. Kraft “Jade Ring” award in 1962 for expertise in cheese quality control and cheese manufacturing procedures. He assisted with setting-up and start-up of numerous new cheese plant operations throughout the U.S. Tom was a cheese procurement manager working out of Green Bay and Chicago, retiring in 1992 after 38 years with the company. Tom loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a founding member of the Midnight Riders Snowmobile Club which he helped organize in 1970. Tom was their first treasurer, served on the board of directors and was one of the original “Trail Captains.” He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church including serving as an elder, the Dorchester Lion’s Club, held membership in the Dorchester Park, the Central Wisconsin Steam Engine Club and the NRA. Tom enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, snowmobiling, making firewood, cooking maple syrup, camping, dancing, playing cards with family and friends and an occasional game of golf. Tom is survived by his three children: Clark (Suzie) Reynolds of Colby, Cindy (Chris) Christophersen of Dorchester and Cheryl Reinke of Medford; seven grandchildren: Corey (Kim) Christophersen, Joshua (Jenny) Reynolds, Dillin Christophersen (Jennifer Mollan), Jordan Reynolds (Sarah Foemmel), Angelica Reinke, Jacob (Shinae) Reynolds and Cheyenne Reinke and 10 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Mary Ann Meyer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his beloved cat, Boy Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; five brothers: Frederick, James, Alvin, Jerome and Theodore; and three sisters: Violet Rajewskie, Grace Wetterau and Gladys Zettler. Johanna S. Kropp, age 77, of Colby, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at VitaCare Living of Abbotsford. A private family service will be held. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements. Johanna was born on January 1, 1946, the daughter of Fredrick and Clara (Felzkowski) Kropp in Wausau. She was raised on the family farm in Athens. After not finishing high school, Johanna worked at Marathon Cheese in Marathon, Phillips Plastics in Medford and later at Abbyland Foods in Abbotsford, before health issues began to affect her. Johanna loved going to stock car races locally in her younger years, as well as listening to polka music and attending dances later on. She also liked to collect ceramic bells, religious items and watch anything on the Hallmark Channel. Even though she had many minor and major health issues during her life, Johanna kept a strong will to persevere through them, and she deeply appreciated her time spent with family and friends. Sandra K. Sebold, age 63, of Dorchester, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. Ronald M. Krueger, age 79, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Bedrock Healthcare in Abbotsford under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice. Ron was born on March 29, 1944, the son of Melvin and Audrey (Meyer) Krueger in the Town of Johnson. He was united in marriage to Carol Smazal on February 23, 1963, in Wausau. Together they raised eight wonderful children. She preceded him in death on August 10, 2015. Ron worked as an auto mechanic and partner at Rogers Hilltop Auto in Abbotsford. He enjoyed racing, Mollie B Polka music, puzzles and word searches. Most importantly, Ron loved and cherished his family. Marie Emily Waldhart passed away peacefully in Eau Claire on December 30, 2023, with her loving family at her side. Marie was born on June 5, 1925, to Frank and Marie Beyerl, almost three months premature at the Beyerl homestead in Colby. Her mother was ill and passed away two days after Marie’s birth. Aunt Carrie Schuster came to care for tiny Marie and her many siblings. Against all odds, not only did Marie survive, but she thrived for another 98 years. In 1941, Marie met the love of her life, Herbert Waldhart, at a high school dance in Stetsonville. They married on June 9, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. They took up residence on the Waldhart family homestead in Stetsonville with Herb’s parents. Herb and Marie were blessed with 11 children. Prior to their marriage, Marie obtained her nursing diploma from the Nurse Cadet Corp, a division of the U.S. Army. She worked as a registered nurse in the obstetrics department at Medford Hospital in addition to the tireless undertaking of raising her children. Marie also helped in running their small dairy farm and growing a huge vegetable garden. The countless jars of canned, dry and frozen vegetables she produced helped sustain her large family through the cold winter months. In a true spirit of generosity, Marie always had room at the small dinner table for friends and extended family, as she often invited others to partake. Trying something new was Marie’s way of staying active and engaged. After she retired, and after the death of Herb from cancer in 1993, she became a hospice volunteer and took up oil painting and piano. She became an avid golfer and even got a hole in one. Marie was a shrewd card player and enjoyed playing sheepshead, cribbage, and hand and foot. Needlepoint, puzzles and bird watching were other hobbies that kept her busy. Her sense of adventure resulted in a trip to India, when she was 89 years old, to visit Fr. Gali Show Reddy (Fr. Showry), who became part of the family. But Marie is best known for her nonjudgmental acceptance of everyone she met. She welcomed all into her large family and showered them with kindness, reassurance, and unconditional love. Marie faced life with authenticity and a healthy sense of humor. As the true matriarch of the family, she was the anchor, the glue that held everyone together. Most importantly, Marie was deeply religious, and her faith was her guiding light. She relied on prayer to face the trials in life and to celebrate its joys. And celebrate she did with her family and friends at the many large Waldhart gatherings. The countless smiles on her face told a story of the love she held in her heart for so many. Her favorite expression was “Isn’t life wonderful?!” Marie is survived by her children: Diane Landry, Lee (Mary) Waldhart, Francine Waldhart, Phil (Donna) Waldhart, Tom (Janet) Waldhart, Steve (Deb) Waldhart, Rick (Tracy) Waldhart, Jeanine (Hugh) Feirer, Peggy (Mark) Larsen and JoAnn (Jim) Adams. She is further survived by 33 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert; her dear son, Gary; her sons-in-law: Harry Langjahr and Bill Landry; her daughters-in-law: Sherry Golz-Waldhart and Jody Waldhart; her siblings: Arnold, Martha (Bill) Dolan, Sophie (Earl) Schigley, Laura (Ervin) Meyer, John, Helen (George) Edelbeck, Paul (Lucille) Beyerl, Ida (Ray) Draxler, Margaret (Ed) Charnitz, Gertrude (Ray) Godlewski, Jacob (Rosemary) Beyerl, Francis, Frankie, Tony, Jenny and Gib. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church at 11 a.m. in Dorchester on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, with Father Tim Oudenhoven presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the church. Private burial will take place immediately after Mass, followed by a luncheon at the Centennial Community Center in Stetsonville. The family extends its appreciation to the caring staff at Heritage Assisted Living in Eau Claire, which was Marie’s home for the past two years.
